Out with upper body injury
Steffen has been ruled out for Wednesday's clash with Minnesota United because of an upper body injury.
Analysis: Steffen is Colorado's starting goalkeeper and one of the more experienced keepers in MLS, so his injury implies a very significant absence for the Rapids. Nicholas Defreitas Hansen will likely start between the posts while the Steffen is unavailable. His return to full health is expected to depend on his recovery progress, and the nature of the upper body problem will determine whether this is a short-term absence or something requiring more time.
Concedes once Saturday
Steffen had four saves and allowed one goal in Saturday's 1-0 loss against Houston Dynamo.
Analysis: Steffen conceded one goal Saturday, a Lawrence Ennali strike from outside the box in the 72nd minute. That was the only goal scored in the contest. Steffen also made four saves for the fourth time this season, including his second match in a row. He faces a favorable matchup Saturday versus St. Louis City, a side which has scored just nine goals through 10 matches this season.
Allows three in loss
Steffen recorded five saves and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-1 loss versus Vancouver Whitecaps FC.
Analysis: Steffen let in three goals while making five saves during the loss to vancouver on Saturday. He's only made one clean sheet in the last six MLS games played, allowing 12 goals with 17 saves in that span. The keeper will face off with Houston for the next league game on Saturday, who have scored eight goals in the last five contests.
